What is a true hourly wage?
It's what a job actually pays for every hour it costs you — your take-home pay minus job-related costs, divided by the real hours it takes, including commute and prep. It's almost always lower than the wage on your paycheck, and it's the honest number for comparing jobs.
Why count commute and prep as hours?
Because they're time the job costs you that you can't spend anywhere else. A job that pays well but eats two unpaid hours a day in travel can be worth less per real hour than a lower-paid job close to home. Counting that time is the whole point.
How does the 'work less, earn the same' number work?
It takes your total weekly take-home and divides it by a better hourly rate — your best job's true rate, or one you enter — to show how many hours it would take to earn the same money from a single stronger source. The difference is the hours you'd win back.
Are my numbers uploaded anywhere?
